The little moments that made this year special

What gets you out of bed in the morning? For me, it's not the dawn chorus or a mahoosive bowl of Ready Brek. It's moments like these...

Louie's a Sonnet Specialist!

13-year-old Louie hadn't written much poetry before, but he became so determined to win a poetry competition that he learned all about sonnets.

"Hardly any kid was going to write a sonnet," he thought.

And guess what? His sonnet about Fortnite got published!

The Award Winners!

Then there was Torin's story about a man with a sandwich for a head, Lucas's lollipop teacher story and Remi's story about a talking car. All three were wonderfully bonkers, all three won a competition to get published!

And over in Shoreham, there's Evelyn. When she first started with me, some of her schoolmates had been making unkind comments about her schoolwork, and it had really knocked her confidence. Fast forward to now, and she's whizzing through her phonics and loves taking me on at Spelling Snakes and Ladders! All that effort even earned her the headteacher's award for her progress!

Benny's Spelling Breakthrough!

And how about this for a highlight...

Benny P, from Hurstpierpoint, had been finding spelling really quite tricky and it was starting to get him down. Then one day, his mum messaged me to say:

"It was brilliant to see him jumping up and down about spelling, he was clearly excited!"

Jumping up and down about spelling.

You don't get much better than that!
